Lodge Updates

We are eagerly anticipating welcoming you back to the Lodge soon on June 19th. We are fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of open spaces, fresh sea air and outdoor activities. We have been working diligently behind-the-scenes to review, and in some cases reimagine, each aspect of our property and services to provide you a safe and relaxing escape. When you return, we’ll be doing some things differently. You can find more updates on our efforts below.

Some things you'll notice:

While our stunning view of the sea hasn't changed, you may notice a few operational adjustments we’ve made for a healthy stay.

  • New reservation policy: We've adjusted our cancellation policy to 24-hours, giving you even more flexibility when booking.
  • Lobby layout and practices: The layout of our lobby is updated to facilitate distancing. We've also adjusted our check-in procedures to provide you a more contactless experience.
  • Modified dining service: Drake’s will offer take out and room service dining options so you can still enjoy coastal favorites in the comfort of your room or balcony.
  • Pool & hot tub: Our pool and hot tub remain closed. Please check back soon for updates on these amenities. When we are able to reopen the pool area, you will find our furniture configured to aid social distancing.
  • Fitness & spa: Our fitness room and sauna will remain temporarily closed. We will also not be able to provide spa services. We do hope we can offer these amenities again one day soon.
  • Room entrance policy: Our team will not enter your room during your stay unless specifically requested. We want your guestroom to be your personal sanctuary during your stay.
  • Bike reservations: Our complimentary bike program will remain available with advanced reservation.
  • Bocce reservations: Our complementary bocce courts will remain available for your use with advanced reservations.
  • Exploring the coast: A number of our favorite neighbors are open to visitors. Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve has re-opened, as have the state beaches throughout Sonoma County. Our amazing local bakery, Wild Flour in Occidental, is open and serving their fantastic scones and fresh loaves. We have good news for cheese lovers, the Valley Ford Cheese Company (producer of the Estero Gold) and Cowgirl Creamery are open. As are Hog Island Oyster Farm and Bodega Bay Oyster Company on beautiful Tomales Bay, for you oyster fans. In addition, restaurants, wineries and breweries throughout the County are permitted to open up their outdoor spaces for services.

But most things you'll never see:

Many of our new initiatives take place behind the scenes. You can read more below about our Wellness & Safety Commitment that ensures the utmost hygiene and cleanliness for our team and our guests.

OUR WELLNESS & SAFETY COMMITMENT

          • Third-party certified practices:  We are proud to be Clean + Safe Certified by California Hotel & Lodging Association and recognized by AAA as a 4 Diamond property with Best in Housekeeping status again in 2020. Our robust program was developed, and continues to be refined, based on guidelines from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and local authorities.
  • State-of-the-art technology: We have added to our daily hotel cleaning with anti-viral solutions officially approved for this purpose in all rooms, public spaces, and back of house.
      • Rigorous protocols and ongoing training: We have rigid hygiene protocols and ongoing training for all of our associates. Protective equipment including protective masks, gloves and face-shields will be used by our team as appropriate based on the specific task. Modifications have been made to our public spaces as well as spaces for our team, that reduce contact.
      • Wellness at the center of your stay: Multi-use and unnecessary items and amenities have been removed from guest rooms and public areas, but are available upon request. Our team will not access your room during your stay, though we are here to assist you with the services you desire. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are available to guest and team members in convenient locations across the property.

Whenever you feel comfortable traveling again, we hope you’ll consider staying at the Bodega Bay Lodge. We’ll be ready for you, we will be very happy to see you, and it may be difficult to tell, but rest assured that we’ll be smiling behind our face masks!
